Tragedy Strikes
Poor cow. And on a Sunday too! The Lord only gives you what you can handle.
Update: To the untrained eye this image might not look like it was edited from the original version that was posted. Well, it was, and in the interest of transparency and preservation of your relationship with The Axis of Stevil, we're going to tell you why.
On January 19, 2006 - just one week after its original publication - The Axis of Stevil staff inbox received an email from a lawyer at a law firm representing the business originally depicted on the billboard in the background of the artwork. Enclosed in the email was PDF of a letter that insisted that the image be removed from our website because it caused "some concern."
Being upstanding citizens of the internet and having a full spine intact, we decided not to remove the image. Instead, we contacted the attorney and engaged in a lengthy and collaborative effort to compromise on the grievance. A resolution that would allow the artwork to remain online and relieve the "concerns" of their client. We spent hours on the phone discussing blur options and specifications for the billboard in the background. After multiple rounds of review, both parties were content and the version you have presented before you is the product of that collaboration.
