Primetime Scoop
The world has laughed for many years at acts of cartoon violence. Often cartoons are dramatizations of famous events or true-life stories. Many of the tales are edited to provide the most entertaining and family-friendly story lines. Sylvester the cat is known to have set many a diabolical trap for Speedy Gonzales across the pueblo littered landscape of cartoon Mexico. What you might not know is that these tales where based on one long summer, when the streets of Guadalajara ran red with danger. A deranged cat stalked the city’s large mouse population, killing at random. The exact count is unknown but it is thought that by the time of his capture, Sly "Terror of the Jara" had killed nearly 23,000 mice.

It's Not Over Til It's Over
Every year we designate time to honor of the many arts, people, and social constructs that make our world grand. May has been designated as National Photography Month. Throughout the course of this month, The Axis of Stevil has been distributing disposable cameras and pinhole light boxes to any member wishing to take a moment this May and snap a few pictures.
Be it digital, 35mm, or large format, photographs have the power to capture an instant of time and preserve it almost indefinitely. Over the course of the years, since the mediums inception in 1826 when Josphe Niépce captured his assistant Steve Plasémy’s image on a polished pewter plate, millions of people have captured their own moments of time.

Tune of the Week
The Lowlands began more than a year ago with two brothers, Caleb and Kyle Caudle, both singers and songwriters. Recently, Jason Blankenship and Joe Russell have joined the band, adding layers of electric guitar and percussion. With such diverse backgrounds, influences of the band range from Gram Parsons, Codeseven, Neil Young, Explosions in the Sky, Johnny Cash, The Appleseed Cast, and many other musicians. The Lowlands recently recorded their first EP in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and each of the seven songs are filled with energy and honesty. With plans to tour North Carolina and surrounding areas along the East Coast throughout the summer and autumn months, it is going to be an exciting year for the band.
